I want to run 2 HDA's on one network. I have some questions on how this would work.
I will be running Amahi 7 based on Fedora 19
Firstly. How do you rename the HDA to say HDA2 or something different so there is not conflicting network names? (the only information I could find on the WIKI was for Fedora 14)
Obviously only one will be DHCP, but can the two servers work together as Primary and Secondary DNS?
Can ports for external access be changed?
The primary concern is naming as the Installer currently does not allow you to choose the name of the HDA, so it gets called HDA which will not work if I run two or more on the same network.
Thanks in advance.

The how to use two HDAs on the same network wiki guidance might help.

Re: Multiple HDA's on one network
Thanks.
I had a look at that and it doesn't give a really clear indication on how to rename the HDA (to HDA2 or something like that). Also it seems to be based on Fedora 14 and the earlier version of AMAHI.
The secondary part, can the two HDA's work as Primary / secondary DNS (as Master / slave zone maybe) ? Also, I noticed in reading there was a feature request some time ago for the choice of name (rather than a hard coded HDA) at install time. Has there been progress? When I went to the bug-track link for that one it just came up "page not displayed".

Re: Multiple HDA's on one network
I would say no here as the DNS server choice is not predictable. Is there a reason why you want to run 2 HDA machines on the same network? The secondary part, can the two HDA's work as Primary / secondary DNS (as Master / slave zone maybe) ?
No progress. This is likely not going to make Amahi 8 as it's not a widely requested feature. Most only run one HDA at a time and naming is not an issue. Also, I noticed in reading there was a feature request some time ago for the choice of name (rather than a hard coded HDA) at install time. I am afraid this is a scenario that does not have a lot of documentation. I can run multiple HDAs on a server by turning off DHCP on one of the two. Access one by HDA and the other by IP address. To make it where both can be access by HDA1 and HDA2 would require manual settings on all clients involved I believe.

Re: Multiple HDA's on one network
I have my hands on two PC's with a decent amount of Hard Drive storage space in each. I was preferring going to run the two together, preferring to keep the same simplicity that the AMAHI control panel has for day to day apps and configuration, maybe split some of the apps across the devices (running plex on one as an example, but having something like CRM running on the other) I was hoping to be able to have the DNS zones shared so if I updated DNS setting on one ( example, listing a new fixed IP device) and have it automatically replicate to the other DNS.
I know it's not the stock standard home setup.
Thanks for your assistance though, if it can't be done then I'll just have to work out something different.

Re: Multiple HDA's on one network
I am sure what you are trying to do is possible. Unfortunately we don't have anything documented for Amahi 7. Don't see this as being a feature in Amahi 8, but never know.
Maybe someone in the community will jump in here and assist.
UPDATE: This info in the Amahi feature request 1721 might be helpful.
