I am not a complete rookie, but I can't find Fedora download....

Postby warrentheo » Sat May 30, 2015 12:54 pm

I am attempting to install Amahi 7 on an old HP Media Smart, I have a debug board, so I can see what the computer is doing, but the computer doesn't have an optical drive...

I first attempted to use the Amahi 7 Express install disk, but I don't seam to be able to create a USB version that works (Locks up during boot). So I have been trying to get the USB install instructions to work, however, I can't seam to find a download or torrent anywhere for the Fedora 19 Install, all the mirrors appear to be depricated...

Should I instead go for Fedora 21/Amahi 8? looking for stable right now, and not really looking for Alpha/Beta Release though...

Or is there somewhere I just don't see for downloading the files I need to get this going :?:

Hello,
I am attempting to install Amahi 7 on an old HP Media Smart, I have a debug board, so I can see what the computer is doing, but the computer doesn't have an optical drive...
Many have had a difficult time getting Amahi installed on this hardware.
So I have been trying to get the USB install instructions to work, however, I can't seam to find a download or torrent anywhere for the Fedora 19 Install, all the mirrors appear to be depricated...
Are you following the Fedora 19 USB install guidance?
hould I instead go for Fedora 21/Amahi 8? looking for stable right now, and not really looking for Alpha/Beta Release though...
Unless you are wanting to help test, I recommend you do not try Amahi 8 on Fedora 21. It's in testing and not the "officially supported release" which is currently Amahi 7 on Fedora 19.

I am attempting to do the USB install that you recommended, and that is where I am stuck currently, can't seam to find a valid download for Fedora 19, Will Amahi 7 install on Fedora 21? Or is there a better location for Fedora 19 than the ones mirrors listed (Tried 4 or 5 of them, their Fedora 19 folders only have a README file, and no ISO's in them...)

I have an Media Smart Ex495 with an upgraded processor and 4GB's of RAM, I have had Amahi installed on it a few years back, and looking to resurrect that system now...

Have to tried the download links in the wiki? There is a one we host local on the Amahi 7 Full DVD wiki page. It's a 32-bit version via torrent, but should work.

BTW, you cannot install Amahi 7 on Fedora 21 on any OS other than Fedora 19.

Did you try using UNetbootin? There is another nice USB software that I use which will work with the Express DVD called Easy2Boot.

I had the same issue as I'm trying to install the OS on an older, 32 bit machine. After poking around with the url, I found the list for Fedora 19 -
https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mirrorm ... ra/19/i386

I haven't tried any of the links to download yet, but it looks like that's the intended page.

Actually, there are a lot of confusing links on that page. Here is the best link I could find for the ISO:

http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/a ... /i386/iso/

Is this resolved now?

BTW, I provided a link in an earlier post for the same ISO you are seeking.

If you're referring to the wiki link (https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_7_full_DVD) provided in the post from 5/30 @ 3:07 PM, the URL for the 32-bit version (http://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/public ... a/19/i386/ which forwards to https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mirrorm ... a/19/i386/) isn't a valid link. I get a 404 when I go there.

The link I found to be working is http://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/a ... /i386/iso/ , which came after a good deal of poking around. I have a feeling Fedora moved a lot of their site structure around, which caused this link to break and caused the confusion here.

I didn't create this thread, so I can't comment on it being resolved. However, I was able to download a Fedora 19 ISO and burn it to a disk. I haven't had the chance to perform the manual install, but if I have any issues, I'll open a new thread.

Thanks!

No I was referring to Fedora 19 32-bit torrent link on that wiki page.

It's a torrent download, but should provide users with the DVD directly.
