Hey guys,
I'm trying to get my HDA to run with a new Virgin (UK) router, but seem to be having problems (most likely due to the crappy crappy router they have).
Now, I can do the following:
Enable modem mode on Virgin router, run it through my Draytek and it works.......however I lose around half of my broadband speed (100mbps ethernet port unfortunately).
And when I try to disable the DHCP on the virgin router, it all goes to hell. Has anyone had any success with virgin routers and the HDA?
Many thanks!
Alex
Edit:
I do have an idea however. How would I change the Amahi IP address? It's currently set to 192.168.1.254 (with the DHCP giving leases on 192.168.1.x). I can't see any way to change it on the control panel however (probably due to me running an older version of Amahi atm).

Re: Virgin router woes
Have you tried to set the router to only hand out 1 IP address? Set it to the HDA, then use the HDA for the rest of the network. That is the process many have to use that have AT&T uVerse.

Re: Virgin router woes
Does change IP address guidance help? It changes the second third octet of the IP address.

Re: Virgin router woes
Unfortunately the gateway option isn't there (haven't really had time as of yet to dedicate to upgrading the HDA fully unfortunately).Does change IP address guidance help? It changes the second third octet of the IP address.
Is there a config file to change the DHCP options?
Re: Virgin router woes
What version of Amahi are you using? The script is the only way for Amahi 6.

Running amahi 6 atm on fedora - is the script still the same? If so I'll give it a whirl. What version of Amahi are you using? The script is the only way for Amahi 6.
Re: Virgin router woes
I believe the guidance in the wiki for Amahi 6 applies to Fedora 14 too, but could be wrong.

Re: Virgin router woes
Almost there I think.I believe the guidance in the wiki for Amahi 6 applies to Fedora 14 too, but could be wrong.
I've run the following:
sudo hda-change-gw 192.168.0.2
But it seems that the server is set to 192.168.0.254 (previously was on 192.168.1.254)
Here's the ifconfig:
eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 2C:76:8A:AD:E7:8C
inet addr:192.168.0.254 Bcast:192.168.0.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:1044 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:1017 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:131396 (128.3 KiB) TX bytes:185992 (181.6 KiB)
Interrupt:18
And if I go to HDA on the web browser, it says:
"Ruby on Rails application could not be started" (but I think that's due to DNS on the router, not a problem with the HDA)
The Virgin router is set to DHCP on, on 192.168.0.1, max one user can only go up to 192.168.0.2
Reason I say we're nearly there, is if I try to connect my phone to the wifi (running on the Virgin router wifi), it sets the IP address to 192.168.0.101 and works fine on the net (yet the PC doesn't)
Re: Virgin router woes
Potential screwup on my end here.......Because I was a muppet and didn't double check the instructions, I mis-read "gateway" to mean the server *dumbass*.
Now when I try to do "sudo hda-change-gw 192.168.0.1"
I get:
[alex@Server ~]$ sudo hda-change-gw 192.168.0.1
DBI connect('database=hda_production;host=localhost','amahihda',...) failed: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) at /usr/bin/hda-change-gw line 73
Can't connect to MySQL process!
Error: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)
Any ideas on how to fix this muckup?
