CLOSED: Best way to re-install on a new drive?

OK, so, when I first installed HDA i installed the OS on the smallest drive that that was in my pool (100 GB drive or something like that). Now I have filled my 4 drive bays and and I am being given a couple 1 TB drives so I can increase my storage pool. I want to free up the bay used by the small drive to use 1 of the larger drives.

Since this will entail reinstalling the OS on a different drive I was wondering if I just need to do a fresh install using my original activation code?

Also, since I have purchased some apps, will I have to re-purchase if I re-install (that would be a major bummer)?

Forgive me if this is an ignorant question but could I format a new drive as bootable and then clone the partitions from the OS drive to save doing a complete reinstall?

I have previously added drives to the pool so I know how to do that part, just wanting any thoughts on best way to reinstall.

Thanks for any tips you might offer.

Gary

I would recommend you back up the current drive using Clonezilla Live CD. Then you can restore on the new drive. Since the new drive is large, restoring will be simple.

See the Clonezilla article in the Amahi wiki for more info.
