Installation - multiple issues.

Postby comm3000 » Sat Dec 13, 2014 8:15 pm

-= I will delete this post if everything goes right this time :) =-
I will put every step here to see what is going on with it.

Pentium 4 3.2GHz
RAM 3072MB 2GB+1GB
HDD: PM-ST3400620A
CD/DVD: SS-TSSTcorp SH-S2

Sys disk partitioning:
/dev/sda
SWAP 3GB
/boot 500Mb
/ 360Gb

12-13-14 22:10
"First" boot - I initialized system and everything looks "OK" except:
* Apps - Available tab: "here are no applications available at this time. This could be due to a lack of network connectivity." WTF? I can ping HDA from network... And ping out to 8.8.8.8
* Network - DHCP Leases - EMPTY (though my phone just got an IP from somewhere??) I know, DHCP on a router IS off!
* Settings - Servers -
Apache Web Server Running
DNS ?????? Running
?????? MySQL DB Running
???????? ?????? (Samba) Running
What the hell are those "?"s doing here???

Done with it. Reinstalling 4th time today again.

1. Booting from CD
2. Not paying attention on "no handler for irq
3. Ethernet - PCI card enp3s4 - got IP from router's DHCP 192.168.1.113
4. Partitioning - "I want to modify..." Standard partition.
5. Erasing all the partitions
6. add swap 3GB
- add /boot 500MB
- add / 378.05GB
- DONE - ACCEPT - Begin Installation.
7. Set root password - set USER NAME and Password.

waiting to finish

8. Entering Installation code...
REBOOT!!

seems to be ok except "kernel: [xxx.xxx] do_IRQ: 0.147 No irq handler for vector (irq -1)"

Rebooting again - by itself.

I can ping it now 192.168.1.10 - 1ms!!
Shutting HDCP on a router: OK

connecting to http://192.168.1.10 - Amahi initialization

Apps - Available - "There are no applications available at this time. This could be due to a lack of network connectivity." - obviously a BS!

And yes, I can see it here https://amahi.org/users - Your HDAs - "Running"!!!

--------
OK, one more reboot fixed it.

Day 2

Surprise! My purchase of Greyhole UI is gone!!! Probably because I deleted and recreated HDA config on amahi site. Still why isn't it on account and not tight to HDA?

Did you enable Advanced Settings?

Yes, it is enabled.

BTW - my HDA install code changed. It use to be comxxx00 and R85xxWT. Now its admxxx and 3WKxxTD

I used (https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_7_full_DVD)

Code: Select all

hda-install YOUR-INSTALL-CODE

and it fixed it.

Than I reinstalled Greyhole UI app from Apps tab and ta-da!!!

Though all me shares are gone. Matters not. Will rebuild it again.

I will continue with installing additional HDDs (all of them previously used in the same HDA server, so no need to format, partition etc.) Please look at "Day 2" for how to.

Good to hear you got things sorted out. Must have been a driver issue as they full version DVD typically fixes it.

I presume we can close this one out.

Not yet. Last time I broke the whole system by doing "local shares"

And time before accepting updates while doing "yum update".

I want to go through all that step-by-step and see where it will brake again. My server was down for more that a year because i just gave up fixing it every month. So there is new v7 and I want to see how this one works.

12-15-2014 7am
First surprise.
Checked in "Drive Pooling"-"Partitions" /var/hda/files/drives/drive1 just "unchecked" himself and wont check again.
Will reboot but THIS IS THE SERVER, NOT WIN95 DESKTOP :)

That is obviously abnormal. Recommend you check /etc/greyhole.conf to see if the drive is listed. There could be many things causing issues here.

This is a new installation, correct?

I rebooted system and checked drive1 again. Now it is working fine, running FSCK.

I will update when anything happened or I will do some changes / additions.

Thank you for being here for me!
