Setup Users rights for sub folders after install

Postby yoyocint » Mon Nov 10, 2014 12:47 pm

Regards again.

I have migrated the document folders to HDA.

The file hirarchy includes general folders and sub folders. Is there a way to assign access rights ( read only or read and write) to sub folders or only folders?

Or do I have to un nest the sub folders and create them as indivisdual shares to set access as I need?

All permissions apply to the folder and subfolders. Only way to apply specific access rights to the subfolders is to do as you say, make them their own share.

Ill un nest them and share separatly, but this would e a worth while improvement as chaging the folder structure is not the best idea.

You don't have to move them. Just make a share for each subfolder. Remove the share for the upper level folder as it's not needed.

Don't believe Samba can do this any other way so no enhancement to add. It's already there.
