i've been using amahi since version 7 was released. Recently i upgraded my setup and i'm trying to install the 64bit version from the express cd. my setup is the following:
motherboard: ABIT AL8
CPU: Pentium D x2 @2.8Ghz (64bit)
HD: 2x80GB in RAID 1 mode (On board Silicon Image PCIE SATA 3GB/s RAID controller - Sil3132)
2x500GB WD
1x1TB WD
1x2TB WD
RAM: 2GB DDR2 533
I'm trying to install amahi in my raid 1 disks but setup fails. when i try to report the bug in bugzilla it finds it as a duplicate bug (
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=970184), i can't find a way to copy paste the log from the anaconda installer, so that i can post it here. anyways, im pretty sure that it has something to do with my hardware raid setup.
I already downloaded the cd a couple of times , and test it before beginning setup and i'm sure it was ok.
Any insights?
thnx in advance

Yea, don't use the Express CD. Some hardware may not work correctly with it. Use the Full DVD in this case.

You can try the USB install, although unsupported, it does work well. I have tested it many times with great success.

i'll try the full dvd install and post back.its actually weird that express install doesnt do well with raid, when i have fully installed-out-of-the-box fedora 20 netinstall on top of raid 0 in my work machine. raid is really useful when dealing with servers and loads of data.

Netinstall pulls packages as needed for the install where Express CD is a custom CD with limited packages. As for using RAID, I personally find it more useful to use Greyhole with Amahi vs RAID.
Depending on the RAID you choose, it complicates the server more than necessary. If you only care about file redundancy, Greyhole is best. We all have our own opinions/requirements though.
I think RAID is over-rated and not practical for the typical home user. Most don't have the experience and skills to properly set it up and maintain it.

I agree.
whould you care to elaborate on the part for greyhole?
basically all i care is that i have a full automated image of the hard disk amahi is installed at all times. because setting it up and configuring it for my needs takes a lot of time. and i dont have time to take an image (with clonezilla for example) of the hard disk every day

Greyhole will work for your data, but not the actual image of the drive.

RAID may be your best option unless you can set up some rsync to do the task.

We don't have one unfortunately. I just edit the subject line of the original message and add SOLVED to the beginning.
This one is done.
