Hi. NOOB here. Sorry for many ignorant questions!
I tried to install Amahi on a Dell Dimension 9100 from the live CD download. I got all the way through to the reboot, but I could never connect the GUI from a web browser on my laptop (using wifi connection). The Amahi tutorial suggested i turn DHCP off on my wireless router. Did it, still couldn't connect to the GUI from my laptop.
Also, I could never see any GUI on the machine itself, just the "terminal-looking" interface after the reboot. Is that normal? Did my disk fail to install correctly? Or do I need to pre-install Fedora on the machine before running the Amahi disk?
Am I supposed to leave the live CD in after the reboot? I took it out and it rebooted automatically into Fedora, but not with any GUI.
Lastly, does it matter that I wire-connected the Amahi machine to the internet port on the back of one of my Sonos boxes? Do I have to connect the Amahi machine directly to my wireless router?
Any help would be appreciated.
Do I need to install Fedora before the Amahi live CD?

Re: Do I need to install Fedora before the Amahi live CD?
Recommend you follow the install guidance if you did not initially. Also Amahi Express CD is not a Live CD. It's a customized version of Fedora minimal install with the Amahi pieces added.

If you have a 64-bit machine, using the Amahi Express DVD is all you need. If it's 32-bit, you will need to use the full DVD for Fedora 19 and follow guidance in the wiki. The Express DVD only supports 64-bit.

The machine needs to be hard-wire connected to the router, not another machine. It will eventually serve as the DHCP and DNS server for your network.
There is guidance in the wiki as well should you get stuck. There may be driver issues with your machine, so may have to install the full DVD for 64-bit vs the Express DVD.
BTW, Amahi 7 is headless so there is no GUI on the machine itself. You can install the Amahi VNC application once you have the install working.

When installing using the Express DVD, you can take it out after reboot. The machine should reboot twice before Amahi is properly installed. If you try to access it too soon, the install will break.
