Hello all,
I attempted to setup my server with 2 hard drives installed (intending to have 1 with all the system/boot files, the other with all the shares) but that did not go as planned.
My current partitions listed are:
Partition-----Total -----Mount Point
/dev/sda1---190 MB------/boot
/dev/sda5---67.1 GB------/
/dev/sdb1---293 GB------/home
From searching the forums and the FAQs, I now am aware my partitions should be: 1) /boot (500 MB), 2) swap (1-2 X my RAM), 3) / (root; 10 - 20 GB), and 4) /home
1st Question: Is it normal that the "swap" partition is not listed? Is this a problem?
2nd Question: It looks like I will have to reinstall. At which point I will install with only 1 hard drive installed and then add the other hard drive afterwards (as suggested by other users). What is the best way to reinstall? Should I just boot from the CD and go at it? Same install code? Do I need to delete the existing setup somehow?
Disk Partitions Incorrect --> Reinstall
Re: Disk Partitions Incorrect --> Reinstall
Never paid attention, but probably a true statement.1st Question: Is it normal that the "swap" partition is not listed? Is this a problem?
Yes you can just boot the CD and go from there. It should wipe out whatever is on the drive. You can use the same install code. Unless you are changing domain name, gateway or IP address, no need to get a new code.2nd Question: It looks like I will have to reinstall.
