Yes they are interchangeable. Have you tried the troubleshooting page at http://docs.amahi.org? This is Fedora 19 and a wired connection, correct?
I don't know what else to suggest. We have pretty much went through the common solutions. Might require a reinstall if all else fails.
Right before installation finish, stops with localhost login

I tried tha troubleshooter but got stuck when it asked me to SSH into the box, as I wasn't able to do it.Yes they are interchangeable. Have you tried the troubleshooting page at http://docs.amahi.org? This is Fedora 19 and a wired connection, correct?

Latest 7.# Amahi with Fedora, wired connection, yes. Should I maybe test the connection from the HDA?
I don't mind reinstalling, as I've done it 3 times now (this latest was the only one with a wired connection from start).
If I reinstall, would you guide me?
Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l
Yea maybe a reinstall would be quicker. Follow http://docs.amahi.org for the install. Then once done report back.
I will do my best to help.

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l
Well, there's some good news.
I reinstlled and did my best, and this is where I am:
Wireless is working for my home.
and I can access the HDA with it's IP address.
Horray!
However, my roommate can't access the HDA the same way.
Is there another guide that shows what to do after installation?

That's where the DHCP on the router gets disabled and you renew the IP address on all client machines. All computers connected to your network should have access.

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l
I'll have to try. But keep in mind this: I've done this twice, and both times it sent me into a network error tornado that takes 20+ minutes to sort. That's where the DHCP on the router gets disabled and you renew the IP address on all client machines. All computers connected to your network should have access.
The refresh renew commands for Windows didn't work on my friends laptop.
This is the farthest my installation has gotten and it's going to be dissapointing it if breaks again.
So let me get this straight then:
1. disable dhcp from the router
2. use the commands to refresh IPs from connected devices.
3. enjoy the share?
Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l
Nevermind!
Turns out my roommate wasn't inputting the right ip address.
They ARE able to connect to the HDA's IP address.
So then do you know of anything else I need to do to finialize?
Thanks again for the help!
I have a hard drive here with tons of files that I want to share.
Should I just turn off the machine, connect it, then reboot?

OK, now that you both can connect via IP address, turn off the router DHCP server. Then you can reboot your machines or renew the IP address.
When you do ipconfig /all from the command prompt, you should see the HDA providing DHCP and DNS server addresses to your client.
Everything should work since you can connect to the dashboard via IP address.

Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l
I'm hesitant to turn off the dhcp. The last two times I did that it took me 20 minutes each time in order to fix. Then I had to reinstall Amahi.
Re: Right before installation finish, stops with localhost l
Well you can share files but doing:
\\HDA IP address in WIndows Explorer.
If you choose not to turn off the router DHCP, you need to turn off the HDA DHCP server then.
First, do this:
https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Advanced_Settings
Then go to Networking tab and choose Settings. Uncheck the DHCP Server check box, but leave the DNS Server alone.
You will lose some Amahi functionality by not using it's DHCP server.
