I installed Amahi 7 on my Thinkpad T420s repeatedly, and am now at the commandline after install.
I tried to ping the hda using 192.168.0.50 (the ip address of it), and it says network unreachable. Then I tried nslookup, but it doesn't find the command.
What can I do? The settings in the command panel are correct.
Thanks
Edit:
Also, the last reboot (after the manual one that asks me to reboot) didn't happen. During install, I correctly connected to the network.
Amahi 7 Express disk - can't ping anything, no nslookup
Re: Amahi 7 Express disk - can't ping anything, no nslookup
If the automatic reboot does not happen after the manual one, the install is probably not complete. Sounds like you may have to reinstall.
Ensure you check the Express CD image to ensure it's not corrupt as well.

I reinstalled multiple times and the check went through fine. What else can I do?
Re: Amahi 7 Express disk - can't ping anything, no nslookup
I presumed you followed the guidance on http://docs.amahi.org. You can try the network troubleshooter.

Check the install log file that should be in your /home directory for the user you created.
It is possible that there is a hardware incompatibility with the Express CD. One option would be to try the full DVD install and follow the wiki instructions for the Amahi portion.

Thanks, I will check the log when I'm home again.
Meanwhile, can you help me out with a download link for the full dvd? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks Bigfoot.
I installed Fedora, and made it as far as with Amahi. There is no logfile in my home directory. Actually, my home is totally empty.
I cannot ping similar to what happened when I tried Amahi. Other ideas?

Re: Amahi 7 Express disk - can't ping anything, no nslookup
The log file might be located elsewhere. As root user, try doing a find command for *.log and see if it reveals anything.
Code: Select all
find / -name log

Re: Amahi 7 Express disk - can't ping anything, no nslookup
There are some log files, but most of them are empty. I found a boot.log that has some contents, but there are no errors or exceptions mentioned in there.
Re: Amahi 7 Express disk - can't ping anything, no nslookup
Not sure where to go from here. Is odd that it's not working. Did you check the Express CD to ensure a good download and burn? I have heard of some having corrupted install media.
