Not sure where to go from here...

Postby rdurruthy » Sat Feb 08, 2014 3:22 pm

Hello,

I'm looking to get amahi up and running but have not had the best of luck.

I have a old dell (32bit) machine that was running windows 7 as a media server. I erased and started fresh with amahi.

Following the instructions here: https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_7_full_DVD

I created the user name and password on amahi's websites in which it generated a installation code.

Then I installed Fedora 19 DVD & manually installed amahi using the installation code. All went well and it requested I reboot (yes/no). Once I rebooted it led me to a black login screen "Fedora release 19....." "localhost login: _"

Using my Apple Macbook pro I went to 'http://hda' but nothing came up. Also, when logging into the Amahi Dashboard it is saying "waiting install".

I'm just not sure where to go from here..I believe I followed the instructions but can't seem to get past this issue.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

When you do the 32-bit install using DVD, you must let it reboot twice before trying to access anything. It may take 10 minutes or more to complete the install.

Chances are the install did not complete and that's why you are having problems. Please try again and let us know how it goes.

Hi,

It only asked me to reboot once. I did that and then it went back to local login. It didn't prompt me to reboot nor do it by itself.

Do I redo the amahi install by reinstalling fedora 19 ie starting from the very beginning? Or is there another option (faster than starting at step 1)?

Thanks for your help

Best to start from scratch. Is this Express CD or DID?

Ok. This is Fedora 19 DVD & Amahi 7 (manual install)

Using this as my guide: https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Amahi_7_full_DVD

OK. So 32gbit install. Ensure after you reboot give it 5 to 10 minutes to finish. Then ensure you disable your router DHCP and renew IP address on your client.

Each router is different, so you will need to consult the manual for your model.

As for renewing the IP address, it depends on the client OS.
