so I am back to the track and wanted to modify the WiKi page.
But I thought to start over and have a correct view about the CUPS thing.
-I removed everything regarding the CUPS server and services and installed the per-app-click CUPS server again.
I know have an new "root" user with correct root priviledges. Now CUPS server(app) will let me modify Administrative pages.
As I mentioned before my printer is an old usb HP PSC 1315.
-I connected per usb the printer and by doing "find new printers" from inside the CUPS' confing pages I continued with installation. -for the correct communication between printer and Amahi7 I had to
download in my desktop PC, then extract and add manually the PPD file.
Finally, this is the error that I get under the "manage printers" page: (HP13115_SERVER is my printers' name)
<<
HP1315_SERVER hp psc 1310 series Local Printer HP PSC 1310 Series, hpcups 3.14.4 Idle - "File "/usr/lib64/cups/filter/hpcups" not available: No such file or directory" >>
doing a web search some
users mentioned that the problem solved with the creation of
links from the /usr/lib64 to /usr/lib files.
BUT BUT BUT !!! since there is no hpcups file to find because HPLIP package is not installed there is nothing to create a link. This brought me to the final solution:
I will now move on by installing manually HPLIP and report again....
Ok. Now I am back after installing HPLIP by doing "yum install hplip" and rebooting the server just to be sure.
The message from the CUPS' Printer page that I get is the following:
<<HP1315_SERVER hp psc 1310 series Local Printer HP PSC 1310 Series, hpcups 3.13.11 Idle>>
As everything indicates the printer should be working!
Ok! new black cartridge bought ... off to test the printer!
YES YES YES! not only I can print a test page, but I can also print remotely from another computer in the network!
I guess now I can complete the update of the WikI Pages
