Display - can't see the full screen

I'm installing Amahi on an HP ML110 with an onboard display and I can't see the full screen during the installation. The Linux text in the beginning displays properly, it's when it goes into the GUI that I have the problem. I'm using a 17" LCD 4:3 (not widescreen) and the height of the display is ok, it's the length. Some of the info is off to the right of the screen and there are no scroll bars. After selecting the timezone and continuing, the screen got smaller and more to the right so that I had a big black bar running down the left and bottom. After installation, it asked me to click "Finish" to continue with the installation, but i couldn't see it to select it so i had to hard boot the device.I tried to re-install with a widescreen monitor (19" 16:9) but had the same result, but worse when having to select the timezone - I couldn't even see it.

Is there anything that i can do? Due to it being an installation, i can't change the resolution or anything...

Could be an issue with video drivers. Not sure what else you can do here unless you have a different video card or machine to try. Maybe a VM would be a good start.
