Trying to add a network card. lspci shows nothing.

Postby bluepoppy » Tue Jun 11, 2013 7:58 pm

I'm trying to add a network card to a 64bit Amahi Fedora install running on a two month old Lenovo Thinkcentre M72e. I've tried four different pci express cards, two different models. . . the latest being an Intellinet 522533. Not only is there no eth1 interface appearing after the installation (would suggest a simple absent driver problem) but lspci shows NOTHING with the cards installed (except all the on-board hardware that it showed before). And yes, I tried both PCI slots. And yes, there are activity lights on the cards when installed. And yes, the cards work fine in other boxen, including two running Ubuntu and one running Debian.

Any thoughts? Is my PCI bus effed?

Have you tried booting from a liveCD?
Preferably a totally different distrobution, maybe Mint (though i don't know if they have a liveCD) or Ubuntu.
wether it works or not, at least it gives us a clue as to where we should be looking!

So my suggestion is, try a LiveCD, and see what comes up, post the results back here.
