Install on an Acer Easystore H340

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone has installed Amahi on an Acer Easystore H340? I have one of these and the main drive is giving out and I am debating on sticking with WHS or switching to Amahi. I am going to build a new box sometime in the future and that will run Amahi for sure, but I would love to get some more hands on experience with it. I have set it up in a VM and it was pretty straightforward (I do wish adding drives to the pool was a bit faster), but I don't know how I would go about it on a headless unit such as the Easystore. Could I install it on a hard drive on a computer with a keyboard and what not, then move that drive to the Easystore? Anyhow, TIA for the advice!

No one has any advice? That's a shame.

From what I have read I can hook the hard drive up to another computer and install to it, then pop that hard drive into my easystore. this is correct?

That's what some have done with limited success.

Would you have any suggestions as to how to get it onto the box without video out?

Something similar to this should work for you.

Same concept, just different hardware.

I have the same machine running amahi.
What I did:

1. open the case and add a jumper to the i/o troubleshooting pins (see the acer manual)
2. buy a pci xpress x1 videocard and install it
3. use unetbootin to install ubuntu 12.04 to an usb stick
4. make sure to have one hd installed and connect to a monitor and usb keyboard/mouse
5. at startup make sure to press f2 to access the bios or f12 to change boot order
6. now follow the normal installation procedure for amahi

Good luck!

This might be something good to add to the Amahi wiki. Would you mind doing so?
