My HDA can't "see" internet after hda-install

Hi guys,

After having properly installed Fedora 9, i manage to connect myself to gnome without any problem. Then i launch FireFox: all is ok, i can "see" internet: google, amazon... . Fine.

Then I launch a Terminal Window, switch as root user, enter my password, and finally type "install-hda + installation code". Every package seems to be properly installed, then the installation process ends properly. Fine, the systems asks me to reboot.

After rebooting, i can no more see internet, and i haven't been able to fix this problem for two weeks. I need your help!

I think it may be due to a bad DNS configuration. I mean:
- My HDA account is configured to reach internet gateway to IP 192.168.1.1, which is the right adress of my router (checked before writing this post). BUT i know that if i configure a machine with a correct static IP, subnet mask, and default gateway 192.168.1.1, even also typing 192.168.1.1 as a primary or secondary DNS, it doesn't work (tried on another PC). I need to enter my ISP DNS adress to get it work properly (which is not surprizing).
- I can't see any DNS configuration in my Amahi account. That's why I think i may enter my ISP DNS adress directly somewhere into my Fedora or Amahi. But, if i'm pretty good in Mac OS and Windows (shame on me ;-) ) I'm a real newbie in Linux.I've try to configure DNS into Gnome networking control panel, but after rebooting, every changes I've made have disapeared...

My HDA is blind, it's frustrating!
Could somebody help me?

Thanks a lot!

hi,

two weeks??

you are confusing DNS with gateway. DNS is automatically set up in the HDA.

check and see if you can ping the router, etc.
can you ping 192.168.1.1 ?

the best thing is to follow the network troubleshooter.

what step do you get at?
