Hi,
I am using Fedora 9 now and very happy with it. I would like to try out Amahi server at this stage to see how well it works. Is there a way to install Amahi without going to re-install F9 from beginning?

Re: Installation help
It is working, thank you for the help. Now, I can see the running status under my control panel but I can not get access from my laptop or other PC. I can see MSHOME and HDA from Amahi home server under place>network. Any suggestion?
I notice from the HDA install log have some error at the very end of install process, could it be the problem?

Re: Installation help
Sounds like you have not renewed the IP configuration on your "client" machines since installing Amahi (assuming you have also turned off DHCP on your home router as instructed in the installation instructions).
If you still have problems follow these steps ...http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Network_Troubleshooting
and report back on which step you get stuck at.

Re: Installation help
I have follow the link for Network_Troubleshooting, I have trouble in step 1 of #2, I can not ping my router (192.168.1.1) from HDA box that is why I haven't turned off DHCP on the router yet. Have any idea? In the router, it automatically assign Amahi box with 192.168.1.100 and I also added it in the DHCP table. After I added HDA to router DHCP table, I still can not ping the router.Sounds like you have not renewed the IP configuration on your "client" machines since installing Amahi (assuming you have also turned off DHCP on your home router as instructed in the installation instructions).

Re: Installation help
The HDA gets the IP address you defined in your control panel at amahi.org (log in to see)
You also set the IP of your router in the control panel.
You then have to disable DHCP on the router if you expect the 'smart' URLs (like http://hda) to work from outside of your HDA. Filesharing and 'smart' URLs will not work if your router provides DHCP.

Re: Installation help
When I set the HDA box, I leave the setting as default, gateway as 192.168.1.1 and HDA as 192.168.1.10. I am still have problem ping the router. Here is what I did and observed:The HDA gets the IP address you defined in your control panel at amahi.org (log in to see)

1. I have my router and HDA box up and running.
2. from HDA, I can ping HDA box, yahoo.com but I can not ping any machines in local network including gateway(192.168.1.1)
3. I restart 1 of the laptop which is connected to wireless network, it seems to getting IP address from HDA?? When I type in ipconfig /all on laptop, it shows The IP address as 192.168.1.101,
DNS suffix search list...//home.com
DHCP Server.....192.168.1.100
DNS Server........192.168.1.10
It connected to router but can't not connect www.
4. from HDA box, i can get to my dashboard by typing http://hda with no problem. From outside of my HDA I get the real HDA.com instead
5. I am really lost now and don't know what to do

Re: Installation help
This problem have been fixed.
It was a stupid mistake during installation. There are 2 Lan ports on my machine. I use eth0 during Amahi install and I plugged in Lan cable in eth1 when I was doing troubleshooting. I assume Amahi box would fail over to eth1 but I was wrong. eth1 will connect to Web but can not see the router (local network). Hope this post will help somebody else!
Thanks for all helping hands!
