New 64bit hda install only showing 2.9GB ram memory

Hi everyone.
I just installed Amahi on a new home server with the fedora 14 x86-64 disc. I figured this had to be the 64bit disc. Was I wrong?
My new server has 8GB of RAM, but in the systems monitor it only shows 2.9. In the bios it counts all 8.
As you can see in the picture below, something is clearly missing.

Any help will be much appreciated!

Not sure that is reporting actual RAM. It may be reference virtual memory. Install one of the apps, such as Linfo or phpSysInfo and see if you see the same stats.

Open up a terminal on your hda and type: free
Post the output here.
That should show the amount of memory that the OS sees (the field marked 'MEM:')

Thanks for your replies!
Here is my terminal output:
total used free shared buffers cached
Mem: 3083452 627436 2456016 0 28028 224980
-/+ buffers/cache: 374428 2709024
Swap: 5177340 0 5177340
Still seems like it only finds about 3GB.
Any suggestions?

Strange.
Ok, reboot your machine and go into the BIOS. It should display the amount of memory that is installed. Perhaps you have a bad stick of ram?

did a reinstall of the OS. Figured I might have skipped the x86-64 repository on the last install.
New system output states 7.6GB of ram.
Im pleased!
