History:
I've had this box for 2 years and have been trying to use it for 2 things: 1. watching videos/movies & 2. backing up my macs. It came with Vista and was soon upgraded to Win 7, both which worked well for task 1, but I had problems getting anything going for task 2. So I then I tried Ubuntu, right? The "easy" Linux. Well, annoyed, mostly because I didn't do my homework and figured, heck, Netflix works in Firefox, why would it care about what OS you're running? And, while I was able to get task 2 working in Ubuntu, it was a pain in the ass. When you upgrade Ubuntu, forget it it. It's like a completely different OS that it was before. New OS or old, every time I need to do something that shouldn't be "outside-of-the-box", I had to go to a command line. I'm primarily a mac user, I don't want to go to the command line if I can help it.

Today:
I've abandoned Netflix after what I'll sarcastically call "their summer of customer love". And I found this beautiful, easy to use website for something called "Amahi". Enchanted, I quickly abandon my latest clusterf*#^ of an Ubuntu install and follow the the instructions. I soon come to the realization, this Fedora/Amahi thing might be as bad, or worse than Ubuntu (from an ease-of-use perspective).

My first question:
Should I even bother with this? or is Fedora going to be a complete nightmare for someone like me? (Who wants a GUI OS, that will not only allow me to share folders on it, but also those sharing rights don't disappear just because I rebooted)

If Yes to "Should I even bother with this? ", my next questions:
What exact Fedora DVD do I need to download for my hardware?
What exact Repository do I need for that version of Fedora & my hardware?

- The fail occurred after clicking "Next", but before "reboot" in the last 2 steps here:

- I was trying to use a Fedora 14 x86 64 install DVD.
- I wiped out everything Ubuntu, when I came to that phase in the Fedora install. This box, I believe, is a blank slate w/ a Gateway Bios.

Any advice, help or comments will be appreciated. You read this whole story, you earned it, call me a fan boy or tell me to suck it if you want.

Not sure why you are having issues as your hardware is fairly current. You need to download the Fedora 14 DVD for install. I would recommend you get the 64-bit version as well.

If you have not tried this yet, recommend you give it a shot.

Yep, that was what I was using. I just edited my original post. I forgot to include the "14" in my Fedora 14 x86 64bit AMD Dvd. It's failing at the end when I select the repositories. I have tried to add the repository in the Amahi install guide and I've tried other repositories found in the forums. Any suggestions as to what I can do?

I tried re-installing Ubuntu last night and that won't work. I think i need to take the HDD out and install my OS directly on it as an external from my mac. If none here has a solution, I'll probably go back to Ubuntu. That installed for me pretty easily in the past.
