no firefox interface or hda after amahi installation

Dear All

I searched through the forum but did not find an answer to my problem, so please help me out as I am quite new to linux and amahi.

I previously installed Fedora 14 on my self built home server and added the Amahi package during installation. I followed the exact instructions of the Amahi website resulting with a succesful installation of Amahi. As asked, I rebooted my server and to my surprise I cannot access Amahi or the web through firefox. I tried pinging other computers within the network with success. The only thing I can open with firefox is the router settings. I also tried switching off the DHCP function on the router and rebooting all devices within my network but this did not work at all.

Thank You in advance
Best Regards
Dominique

Try working through the Network Troubleshooter: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Network_troubleshooting
and post your results.

I used the network troubleshoot as you told me and here is where I get stuck:

At step 4, when I type the command:

nslookup hda

the response in my terminal after some time is:

;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached

THis means that I cannot verifie the red numbers in the troubleshoot.

Thanks in advance for your help

Using your browser, go to the Setup->Settings->Servers page of your hda:
http://hda/setup?sub=servers&tab=setting

Are the DNS and DHCP servers running?

I tried accessing the setup on the server itself, however without success. I am also unable to ping the hda from the hda. Is this normal?

However from another computer within the network, I can access the hda in firefox. THis brings me to a user login for the server. It asks me a username and password. I tried my Amahi codes and the server ones but this failed. Are there any default ones for a first login or can I overcome this problem in some way?
Thx

You should be able to get to your hda using:

http://192.168.1.10

Use your hda's real IP address. I gave mine as an example.

If this works, look at the server settings like I mentioned before.

It sounds like DNS is not working correctly. Do you have it enabled on the HDA?
