1962: No operating system found - old IBM

Decided to change my Amahi HDA to a new (use) box. It's an IBM lenovo with a Core Duo 2 T6300. I believe the specific model number is 8813-A64. Anyway I've run into a problem.

I used the Amahi Express x64 CD to boot and install on the the HD. After the first install, it would boot into a blue screen that said I needed to reboot to finish. Then it would just continue to boot into that screen.

So I tried again with the Amahi Express 32 bit CD. Now after what appears to be a successful install it just boots up into a black screen that says:

"1962: No operating system found. Press F1 to repeat boot sequence."

It is likely a problem with my hardware and not Amahi, but is there some step I'm missing during the installation process? Perhaps some setting in the BIOS that must be set for Amahi or Fedora 14 to work? Thank you for any tips.

Sorry to boost my own post. Just more to the story. I tried moving the sata drive to another port, then to a PCI SATA card I had lying around.

Now it will boot, but after the loading line on the bottom it just goes to a blue screen with a dialogue box:

"Configuration Complete
What do you want to do now?
Reboot Needed to complete install
Debug Command line debugging"

If I choose Reboot it just keeps doing the same thing. Over and Over.

I would say its probably a hardware issue. Have you considered trying the Full DVD install?

The 1962 was definatly a hardware or at least a BIOS issue. I got past that with resetting the BIOS values to their default values.

Now I have other problems and will start a new thread since it does not relate to the 1962: No operating system found issue. Thank you.

During installation of the expressCD do you have a network connection? It should be a wired connection and you should be able to ping, say, f14.amahi.org. When the installer enters stage2 (graphical) you should be able to press CTRL-ALT+f2 to select a terminal to test from.

While working on the expresscd I recall an issue with the amahi installation script would fail and leave the system in this loop. In my case is was a network issue causing the installer to be unable to download the needed files.

It certainly could be a problem with my network. I'm not sure why though. The install with Fedora DVD and then adding the repositories worked without a problem (at that point), so it seems like it had network connection.
