I overwrote all the files in /var/lib/mysql/ from a backup from another server. Is there a sql file or script to re-initialize the database to default parameters or will I need to reinstall?

That stinks. Can't say I have every seen this one before. You may have difficulty restoring it to the original amahi condition. There is a lot of data that will no longer be available unless you had backups of all your data.

If that is the case, a reinstall will most likely be necessary.
