network gets killed during install

Postby sgtfoo » Sun Apr 17, 2011 9:42 pm

So I recently pulled my old amahi OS drive and began an install of the new version on a fresh drive.

Everything's good during install until get to the part right after giving the install code.

Around 30% or so, I get a dead network icon in the top right. I can't get networking to turn back on. And with that I can't get updates to the ruby and sinatra if need be. I also noticed a MySQL error show up in the terminal.

So I tried another install on top of that and the same thing hapenned.... networking died mid-way thru install after the code goes in.

I had internet access during the Fedora install, so what's going on?
It won't let me tail the hda-installer log file either.

What more information should I provide for some help??

You and I are having the exact same problem (http://forums.amahi.org/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=2897). Hopefully someone can help us out. :)

BTW: I'm also unable to access the log file.

Have either of you applied updates after the Fedora install before installing Amahi?

I'm wondering if getting the latest updates might help.

Nope, did it on a fresh install, as per instructions. I'll try the update first, install later strategy when I get back home.

Do you have any idea how to fix the broken network connection? If not I'll have to do another re-install of Fedora which takes some serious time...

I read somewhere recently that amahi install relies on and was tested to work with just the DVD install and nothing supplemental like updates at install time.

I'm wondering if the installer shuts off the network services for the Static IP transition but doesn't re-initialize the connection and that's where we get hung up.

Yeap it worked... sinatra and ruby-rails needed to be installed/updated prior to HDA setup.
