HELP, close but yet so far.

Postby thepainter » Wed Mar 02, 2011 7:18 pm

Installed Fedora 14 followed all the steps, get to reboot, does it's thing, name , password, time etc but when finished I get a screen of scrolling numbers. I thought it was part of the process so I let it run and run and run, you get the idea 5 hours later when I got back it was still going where did I go wrong?

Thanks,

Paul

Really odd behavior. Hard to say what the problem could be. Might be hardware related or something did not install correctly.

Sorry to say, but probably the best and quickest solution would be a reinstall of Fedora 14.

It could be a bad DVD burn.

You should verify the md5sum of the iso you downloaded.

Compare the results of 'md5sum <name of iso file>' with the values shown here: https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/User:Robatino/Downloads

OK, I guess someone doesn't want me to try out Amahi. I tried again with the same result. Downloaded from a Torrent site tried again with a similar result, this time unhandled exception occurred. This is most likey a bug. Is there anyone out there with a working bootable F14. I was going to try the Live CD but see that it's not supported.

Thanks

How old is your hardware? If you can boot USB, consider trying the Fedora 14 USB install as noted in the wiki. Although it is unsupported, many have had success with it.

See http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora_14_usb_install

Also, can you tell us a bit more about your hardware and internet connection. There could be a clue there or consider the DVD drive in your machine could be going out. There are many things that could cause this, mostly hardware related though.
