VNC-connection with headless Amahi server

Hi.
First of all, sorry for my bad English :-)
--
I have installed the Amahi server and almost everything works quite good.
My wish is to run the server as a headless server, a separate box in the server room.
But when I boot the server without screen/keyb/mouse the vnc connection to the server from my clients does not work anymore. When I boot the server with screen/keyb/mouse the vnc connection works well.
I use UltraVNC on a win client to connect in both situations, but when the server is headless I only get a blank, black screen in the UltraVNC window.

I hope somebody has a tip for me. It looks like the setup of the server has been done correct since it is working in NON-headless mode.

Thank you.

Kind regards
TorB.

Many machines require the keyboard to be attached to boot. You might wanna check bios settings. Also, there may be something you need to change in Fedora to permit this. Suggest you do some googling on the internet or check Fedora forums.

There may be someone in the community here that can help, but not sure.

Hi,

I just encountered the very same problem and the cause seems to be this: vino-server that provides remote access to a Gnome session console doesn't start until the Gnome session starts (meaning after you log into the GUI login window).
Just googled this, still haven't found out how to install xvnc via putty (I'm a noob:))

Cheers,
W.

Hi,

I managed to successfully run my server headless after following "Method 2" in the wiki: http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/VNC
I now get the Fedora log on screen when I connect to the servers ip address with vnc viewer.

HTH

Thanks, frodemann!
I was sure I looked up Amahi wiki first but I didn't :)
