I also followed this step:

Click on the "Add additional software repositories" button and add the Amahi repository with the following information:

Repository name: Amahi
Repository URL: http://f12.amahi.org

Did you use the Fedora 12 DVD and not the live CD or network build? Please take a look at the install log. As root user, it should be in the ~ directory....called hda-install.log or something similar. This might shed some light on the problem.

You can get to the installer by opening your web browser and navigating to http://localhost:2000 from the HDA or from a client it would be http://ipaddress:2000. Replace ipaddress with the IP address of your HDA of course.

It was definately a dvd and version 12. Whether it was network build or not I dont know. How do I find the install log? I did a search for it but it didnt come up with anything.

the http://localhost:2000 in web browser I get Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:2000.

Dont know what HDA is to get the ipaddress. Where do I find that?

Ok, there are a few things you can do. This all has to be done on the machine you have installed Fedoa 12 and Amahi.

First, open a terminal window and become root user. Then enter service amahi-installer start. That should start the installer and you can then try the http://localhost:2000.

If that still does not work, then there are more serious problems. We will need to know more about how your install went and what your setup is for your network. It might be best if you could drop by the IRC. You get instant help then.

The IP address for your HDA is the one you entered on amahi.org when you built the profile for your HDA. Another way to find it is on the HDA, from command prompt you can enter ifconfig and it should tell you.

I dont think there are any files of amahi on the machine. I searched the whole file system for amahi and nothing. The installer doesnt work, the link doesnt work. The HDA is that the ip under lo?

Another thing i should add is that I installed the 64 bit version of fedora 12, is that the problem?
If I missed a vital step in installation should I start over with a format?

Not sure what happened, but you might consider starting over. The ip for your HDA is listed under eth0.

Im not sure what happened either but my dad found a different installation troubleshooting page to the one I was looking at and allowed me to install the repository manually via the terminal. Whatever Ive done its all fixed now. Thanks to those who helped.

Btw, I thought I read somewhere that Amahi doesnt support Fedora 14 but then that same page my dad sent has installation instructs for Fedora 14. Is it worth starting over anyway with 14? Is the new version any better?

Glad you got it working. No, Amahi does not support Fedora 14 yet. We are in the early stages of testing. The page you probably saw indicated our progress in testing.

The official version remains Fedora 12. You are welcome to help test Fedora 14, but there are currently no apps available in the store for that version. I anticipate release around the end of the year.
