ErrorFirst admin setup.

Amahi installer seems to have gone fine but when I try and log into the dashboard I get the error: "First admin setup. Please re-create your user password." there is then a prompt for a Username, Password, and Confirm Password. This happens on the HDA and PCs on the network.
I'm eager to get started so any help would be appreciated.

That is normal. The first time you log in to Amahi Dashboard after install you are required to enter a new password. This can be the same as your current one, but a step that must be taken.
Enter your user name followed by the password twice as requested, then all will be well. Remember this is the user name and password your entered when setting up Fedora 12 after reboot.

Sorry I should have said that I did that. I get "Error: Incorrect username or password." However I have rebooted the HDA several times logging in each time with the same username and password that doesn't work when I try and use them at the dashboard.

Are you sure you have the correct user name and password? This is the one you set up after install on first boot. Also, ensure your browser cache is cleared as sometimes that can cause issues.
Also, case is important. Ensure you don't have the caps lock on. This may sound silly, but we have had users who did and that was their problem.

yeah, its odd. I am sure I have the case, user, and password correct, i've tried it on two pcs and I'm using the same user and password to log into the HDA. If I create a new user and password will Amahi let me log in with it?

No, but what you can do is from command line reset the current user password. There is a scriipt in /var/hda/platform/html/script called reset-user-password. Do this as root user:
reset-user-password user (user is the name you set on install of Fedora 12)
That should allow you to make the change and be able to log in.

I'm used to running commands but I don't know how to run scripts in the command line. I did an su and got root, changed the directory to the script folder but when I type 'reset-user-password myusername it tells me "bash: reset-user-password: command not found" then when I double click the script file to run it and tell it to run in a terminal window it pops up and goes away. Sorry to be so much trouble, just new to running scripts.

Make sure you do:
su -
to get root user. Then when you enter the command, you can probably do it without being in the directory. Try that and lemme know if it worked.

here is the terminal session:
Code: Select all
[boan@server ~]$ su
Password:
[root@server boan]# reset-user-password boan
bash: reset-user-password: command not found
[root@server boan]#
I don't know, seems like it would just be easier to reinstall Fedora and Amahi
