This has been a strange one.
I've installed amahi 5 times in the past with very little for issues (I keep changing machines, hard drive died, etc)
This time the powersupply went and burned the mobo too. So I picked up a used poweredge server.
I installed FC12x64 from cd and added the f12.amahi.org repo during install. First time it rebooted it came up with errors saying that the timezone was set as "greyhole" and was not valid then froze.
wierd.
Tried again, same thing... Tried a third time, same thing... I think a fourth time would have qualified for the definition of insanity thing...
Alright...
Did the FC12 install without the amahi repo, all worked well. Then did the install at http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Self-install-existing. It's gone well and the only issue I've really run into is this...
There were no shares listed at http://hda. So I manually created a Movies share and Music share, etc. These shares then showed up in smb://hda just fine from opensuse and ubuntu machines on my home network. But if i navigate to /var/hda/files/ on my server, there all the proper folders exist, but now there is music, Music, movies, Movies, pictures, Pictures, etc....
So, ya..... what happened and how do I fix it?
troubles with shares
Re: troubles with shares
Sorry to hear you had such a hard time with install. My guess here on the shares is there are the ones you created and the ones Amahi created. Check your Dashboard and see if they are duplicated there. Also, the shares folder names are all lowercase for Amahi, so remove the ones in Title case.
Let us know how it goes.

Re: troubles with shares
hey, thanks for the reply.
Yes, that is definitely what I was getting at. Amahi created the shares, but they don't show on the dashboard or in Samba. The shares I manually created do. But, if I navigate to /var/hda/files on the server, there are duplicates. The ones I created and the ones Amahi did.
Do we know why this happened? Do we know how to fix this?

Re: troubles with shares
No I cannot say why it may have occurred. I am thinking because you did not do a traditional Amahi install, that may have caused the issue.
Recommend you find the hda-install.log and any other Amahi specific logs and email them to support at amahi.org for analysis. Please explain in your email what happened.
Is it possible you had a bad install disc or dvd drive? Just trying to think what may have caused the issue.
