Need help, I think I messed up my install. Can't access apps

Hi,

I am having problems trying to access my web apps and do their initial setup. I think I messed up my hostname settings and now I can't figure out how to change them and what to do to correct this issue. My network is basic and my server and all computers on my network are hooked up to the same router. When I install an app with Amaha by going to http://hda and try the link it presents to me (ex, web calendar, http://webcalendar) I just get redirected to some external site on the network (firefox does a search). Therefore, I can't access or setup anything!

I need help, how can I access my apps both internally and externally, what to I need to do?

Your clients may not be using your HDA for DNS, most likely.

See if this helps: http://www.amahi.org/faq#the-applicatio ... to-homecom

Ok, I agree this is probably the problem but i'm not sure how to fix it from here. I did the express CD install so I have no desktop manager/gui. I made a change in /etc/resolv.conf and removed the search field and just left the nameserver line pointing to the IP address of the HDA. When I restarted networking though, it didn't work. When I checked my /etc/resolv.conf file again, it had modified it automatically back to what it was with networkmanager.

Not sure how to proceed from here.

Your *clients* (sorry, i had a typo that could have confused things).

The server is fine.

Your clients are the rest of the devices.

For best results:

- turn off DHCP in your router
- restart your client devices (not the server - your HDA), like laptops, iphones, etc.

Ok, but i'm not planning on using my HDA as a DHCP server, won't that affect the rest of my devices?

here are the tradeoffs:

http://www.amahi.org/faq#is-dhcp-server-required

if you can use the DNS of your HDA, short urls will work.
