Hello,
I installed Amahi with the express disk, so no graphical desktop. It's used headless, but there's a monitor attached for installing /debugging. I just switched on the monitor (for no reason really) and saw that PAM was putting out messages on the desktop. See attached picture, very bad quality, made with a phone, But you'll get the idea. There are 3 lines: <AUTH-PAM: BACKGROUND: user 'foo' failed to authenticate: user not known.> the other lines are something like that. BTW it really says user 'foo', I didn't make that up.
That's probably not the way it is intended to work.

oh, i do know what this is about now!
it's the VPN checker!
we should have named it a bit more appropriately than user foo!
will change dummy user! (though the messages will still appear)

Ah, thank's for clearing that up!oh, i do know what this is about now!

How about user 'vpn_checker'we should have named it a bit more appropriately than user foo!
will change dummy user!

That's a pity; it looks stupid having those messages al over the desktop. Although they're not the only one: today they got company from a lot of LAME errors. will try to find out what's causing that.(though the messages will still appear)
