Weird Fedora Error

Postby Abbas » Thu Jan 29, 2009 5:02 am

Well, Got all my hardware ready to install Amahi today, downloaded the iso for i386 foe Fedora and burnt it using Nero. It booted and went into the couple of initial questions in text mode- like Welcome etc. But then it asks me where I want to install Fedora from. The DVD is in the drive but it says no source present for DVD- weird!

I'll try burning it again

it looks like this could be the Fedora Live dvd?

for best results use the full Fedora DVD.

So here is the wierd thing- its asking for CD images?? I'm re-downloading the ISO now. Maybe I downloaded something bad.
Alternatively, is there a URL where it can install online from?

Grrr-

So apparently there is a folder called images in the DVD but the installer doesnt pick that up. I copied the contents of it on a USB drive and then specified that as the place to pick it up. That worked.

Now after the Hard Drive has finished formatting, I get the error "The installer has tried to mount image # 1, but cannot find it on the Hard Drive" Rety brings the dialog box back and Exit aborts the installation.

No wonder Linux has not made it! Its a pain to install

looks like you were not burning the entire dvd unto a dvd (the images inside the images/ dir are to boot from usb, or install via network, etc.). the image is called Fedora-9-i386-DVD.iso

say, for example here http://mirror.cpsc.ucalgary.ca/mirror/f ... 86-DVD.iso

thanks for trying.

best of luck with WHS.

That is exactly what I downloaded- from two different sources and burnt onto a DVD from two different PCs yet. The DVD boots fine taking me to the installer where I can select the Language and Time Zone but after that, it asks me where I should install Fedora from and if I select CD/DVD, it says it cannot find it.

Oh well. Playing with WHS at the moment and I must say that its fantastic- although I would've loved to give Amahi a shot especially since its free
