Hello Everyone! This is my first post to the Amahi forums. Many thanks to everyone who has worked so hard on putting Amahi together and supporting the community, I am very excited to make use of it!
I have heard that Fedora plays nice with Intel LAN chipsets, and so I bought an Intel 510MO (Atom 510) mobo simply assuming that it would have an Intel LAN chipset. Wrong! It features the Realtek 8111DL chipset. I think I the correct found Linux drivers for this Chipset on the Realtek page here: http://www.realtek.com/downloads/downlo ... wn=false#2
My question is this: Because Amahi is installed by pulling the data across the net during the standard Fedora 12 install, what will happen if the Fedora 12 doesn't support this LAN chipset right away? If I have to install the realtek drivers after installation of Fedora, will I still be able to install Amahi? Do I need to do anything special during installation?
I have never used Fedora, and have only a bit of experience with Linux when using recent builds of Ubuntu, so simple answers would be much appreciated!
My setup:
Intel Atom 510 (Intel D510MO mobo)
Realtek 8111DL LAN Chipset
1 gb ddr2 800
1.5 tb WD green HDD
Thanks in Advance!

Re: Installing Amahi with Realtek 8111DL LAN Chipset
once you have the network going Amahi should install fine. you are not required to install it during setup, you can add it later though it's easier during the setup.
I'd test with a simple F12 live disk to see if your NIC is supported. If it is, you can install. If it isn't you need to install just F12, fiddle with the driver and install Amahi.
If you don't want to fiddle with the driver just buy a NIC with broadcom chipset, those tend to work fine in Linux and can be had under $ 10 I think.

Oh OK, that's good to know and good advice. I'll try the Live install and see what happens with the NIC. Fingers crossed! Thanks!
