Amahi on a Laptop?

I know this is a dumb question but I wanted to get some thoughts before I did it.

I have used Amahi in the past and am going to go back to it. I have a PC for it but it needs too many things to be a decent server. I have an extra Dell Laptop (old Core 2 Duo) that just popped in my mind that I could use.

the reason I like this is because I wouldn't need a switch box and would be easily to use graphical interface instead of only SSH on typical headless system. I have a nice shelf next to my desk that it can sit on with lid closed all of the time and it doesn't take up much space.

Anyone know of any downfalls to my plan? I understand the laptop wouldn't be used as a mobile device and I know it would depend if Fedora 12 install right but I think it should.

Sounds like a good plan to me. Takes up less room and should work just as well as any desktop machine.

You also get the added advantage of built in Battery UPS

laptops are very nice indeed for home server use. almost no cable salad and as noted above, builtin ups is a good thing (tm), and if you don't need expandibility in disk space (I prefer internal HDDs) it's great. Note that especially USB storage can be a little slow (don't believe the 450MB/s bus speed).
