Joomla installation

Postby harmlessdrudge » Wed Apr 07, 2010 12:55 pm

Where is the admin login information for Joomla documented?

Shouldn't this be on the wiki?

Unless I've missed something, the instructions for the update on the wiki are not usable as is. The user needs to know to use root privilege (1), how to get it (2), that the ownership of the files in the update needs to be changed 3) and how to do it (4).

Shouldn't this also be on the wiki??

Could the files in the update already be given the correct ownership? (apache:users)

We will be rolling out a new version soon. As for the current one, we will take a look at it and the wiki instructions. The intent is to make it easy for users to install, which appears not to be the case here.

Well, I'd never installed Joomla before (yes, I have installed MySQL, PHP, PhpMyAdmin etc).

So... I got to the login screen and the need to register. So I tried to register. No reply. Tried again. Nothing. I waited. I tried again. Still nothing. Then I tried Google, later. Only by chance did I find that the admin credentials were admin/admin. I'm puzzled how I was supposed to know.

I'm also not sure how I was supposed to do the upgrade.

No problem....not sure why the login credentials were not published. I will correct that and see what we can do about upgrade instructions.
