Network Problem

Postby aardel » Fri Mar 26, 2010 10:16 am

Just trying to finish the setup but i have one problem.

My Router is set to 192.168.2.1 and i have all my network based on this ip address, how can i change the HDA to use this ip range as i could not figure that out!!

I know that i have a possible solution to change all my network to use the 192.168.1.? range but it involves a lot of changes as i have already alot of port forwardings setup in the router already.

all help is appreciated.

Hello,

I am trying to understand how your server would not have an IP provided by your router initially before installing Amahi. The server has to be hard wired to your network by default, not wireless. If that is what you are trying to do, it can get complicated and may not work properly.

Please provide more details so we can better assist you.

The server is hard wired with the router, and the internet was working fine before i installed the HDA, and the network interface was using dhcp and got the correct ip settings, after the hda was installed the dhcp for the network interface was changed to static ip with the following:

IP :192.168.1.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.1.254
DNS: 192.168.1.10

while the correct settings should be:

IP :192.168.2.10
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.2.1
DNS: 192.168.2.1

The problem if i change manually the ip address then i could not access the server anymore!!

Any other ideas??

OK figured it out, the reason is that i had created the account while i had another router which was using the 192.168.1.254 a while ago, now i have a different setup and i used the code that i had for the old router :-(, so i deleted that user and created a new setup with the new ips !!

Now i am reinstalling and hopefully should work !!

Thanks for your help !!
