Help! Installer got stuck and now can't get it to relaunch!

Postby jaysif » Sat Feb 20, 2010 2:15 am

Hi guys,

I was installing amahi last night using this method "http://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Self-install-existing" since i can't do the usual install. I followed all 6 steps and was at the stage where the amahi web based installer was running. It got to 78%Setting up HTTP connection and got stuck there, i left it going all night and eventually decided to reboot and try again.

Now i can't get the installer http://localhost:2000 to launch! it just says "unable to connect"in firefox.I just did all the six steps again but still nothing so im not sure what to do. I was going to try Add/Remove programs but for some reason my version of fedora doesn't seem to have it!!!

Any help greatly appreciated many thanks

No it doesn't appear to have finished.

Was a bit extreme but i reinstalled fedora to get it to go again and i got to 87% this time but still stuck with setting up http. I've rebooted and there's no evidence of amahi being installed. I've tried restarting it using "service amahi installer restart" thing but it hasn't done any good. Still can't get back to http://localhost:2000, also my log looks different it looks like this:

WARNING: cannot autoconfigure the network!
Configuring Samba ...
Samba install done.
Configuring vpn ...
VPN install done.
Installing httpd ...
HTTPD install done.

Not sure what to do now :(

WARNING: cannot autoconfigure the network!
hmm, we have not seen this before. can you maybe come by the irc at http://talk.amahi.org and share some of your network details and perhaps help debug in real time?

like, how many NICs does your system have, what type of networking you have (wired only wireless, ...) ... etc.

Lol trust me to get the error no one has seen before xD

Yeah sure im just downloading an irc client now and i'll go on to it.

Erm i don't know what an NIC is. My network has both wired and wireless using a Belkin ADSL router.

we'd like to see that /root/hda-install.log file if you could send it to the team - at support at amahi dot org

Just had an idea, could my router's firewall be preventing the HDA from auto configuring the network?

ok, we took at look at the log you sent. can you run this command and paste the output here in the forums?

Code: Select all

/sbin/ip route
somehow, the installer can not parse the output of that, in your system.

Okey just run that command and here's the result:

[root@localhost ~]# /sbin/ip route
192.168.2.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.2.9 metric 1
default via 192.168.2.1 dev eth0 proto static
[root@localhost ~]#
