SOLVED Not possible to loggin even with the right password

after installing fedora 12 with amahi everything went ok,but the next day i wanted to start fedora(i am running it on VirtualBox)i couldnt log in,autofication error,even if i tryed it again so not mistaken password.
This happend after trying to update fedora12(update didnt complete,i restarted before it was complete because of problems updating).

under the screen there is a`!`and in the startup window it says ;`starting up open vpn ............fail and at the end ;starting up monit /etc/monit.conf:4include files not found /etc/monit.d/*.conf...

thats were the startup screen stopt, only one green ok on the next empty line,and | (this at the start of the next line...)


what to do about it?

I installed fedora 12 again on a normal partition on a harddisk installed amahi on it everything worked loggin again works,but after installing the fedora fusion repo and updating the system i can not login again also not with root...

what to do... after pressing ctrl+alt+f2 on the commandline i can loggin with root...

hmm.
make sure caps-lock is not set?
make sure capitalization is correct?

i typed the pasword exactly,no capslock.
on the commandprompt i can log in with root,but not with my username and in the login screen also not with root...
it must have something todo with the fusion repo after updating with it...

that (the rpmfusion) messing with user logins is very very unlikely.

that is consistent with amahi not letting you login.

yes, root is not allowed in the console in fedora.

did you change users/password, whatever, on the fedora desktop?
not supported/consistent with amahi.

I just installed the fusionrepo,updated than trying to reboot...
I have the same thing in my virtualbox ,also after installing the fusion repo...

How can just installing a repo cause this?

Can you dig for evidence, like /etc/password, or /etc/shadow ... see if the users are there?

I installed the fusion repository for the multimedia and this is what i found in

/etc/passwd 500myname/home/username:/bin/bash
/etc/shadow username:GNnZKoZoSzohk:14742:0:99999:7:::

ok. the user is there. with some password.
hard to tell who, if anything did anything to it.

if you can login as root, you can change the password for the user with:

passwd username

however this will not do anything in the amahi interface. for that you need

/var/hda/platform/html/script/reset-user-password username

solved.thanks very much,i can login again...,but i still dont understand what has changed the password(amahi is also still reachable)
