for the reinstallation of Amahi 5.1 I followed this procedure after reading stuff on the forum.
Perhaps this will solve my problem after configuring the wrong ip address in the control panel.
I really don't want to reinstall fedora.
All this to change ip address.
I created a new HDA in the online control panel and did the following :
installed neccesary packages
yum -y install ruby ruby-libs ruby-libs ruby-rdoc
gem install --no-ri --no-rdoc sinatra
ran from terminal
su
amahi-installer -f <installation code>
http://hda:2000
rebooted
now of course the users I have created earlier are configured wrong in Amahi.
so lets check that first.
apparently i need to remove secondary users I created earlier to be able to recreate them from the http://hda
thats done.
I figured next would be to reinstall my applications from http://hda
But of course my internet connnection isn't available cause of the ip change.
so first to change the router ip address to match the ip range of the new hda install.
well internet does work from the hda.
when checking ifconfig in the terminal if discover
the ip address hasn't changed.
what now ?

Re: need help : reinstallation of Amahi 5.1
Hi, i am not sure what's going on (there is not enough details in the post), however, Amahi 5.1 does try network autodetection.
After amahi installation, if you need to change the ip of the router/network, you can use:
hopefully this will work for you. If not please provide more details.
As a way to help us, can you tell us what, at a high level, did you need to do?
This is something we should support.

Re: need help : reinstallation of Amahi 5.1
what i tried to do is change the general IP range of the entire network.
instead of :
192.168.1.0/24
i want to use :
192.168.5.0/24
with regards to Amahi i only needed to change the IP address of the server.
from :
192.168.1.10
to :
192.168.5.10
only changing the gateway address wouldn't have worked for me because the entire network range needed te be changed
because of upcoming VPN connectivity between to networks using the same IP-range.
So as i tried to explain i was hoping to avoid reinstalling Fedora and only re installing amahi with a new installation code.
However this did not result in the desired effect.
i tried the command :
amahi-installer <new installation code> (which did reply correctly)
But the IP address hadn't changed after running the installer via the web interface for the second time.
As an alternative i now reinstalled the entire system including fedora 12 and of course now the IP address is as wanted.
But still the reason why my initial effort didn't succeed eludes me.

Re: need help : reinstallation of Amahi 5.1
were you already in the new range?
at the moment, the network range is autodetected and we're working on ways to easily override that.
actually hda-change-gw would have handled the change in the range just fine!
it changes the IP of the gateway, including the rest of the network.
