OK, panic over.
Seems that the script didn't change everything it should have.
Steps to resolve:
1) sudo hda-change-gw 192.168.0.1 (as I should have from the start)
2) sudo nano /etc/my.cnf
3) change bind-address from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.0.254
All is happy, all is good. Oohrah!

BTW, it's a bad idea to make your HDA IP address .254 as DHCP server provides for 100-254 to clients. This could cause a conflict at some point.
We recommend you assign an IP address less than 100.
