The IP settings are taken from your server profile (you can check this in your profile on amahi.org) and are set automatically, it should match the IP settings of your network. Because of the bridging you may need to set your gateway to the PC instead of the router.

furthermore, can you post the output of "ifconfig" here so we can take a look at it.
echo '16i[q]sa[ln0=aln100%Pln100/snlbx]sbA0D2173656C7572206968616D41snlbxq' | dc

there is a rare issue where in some machines, the ethernet does not come up after install and first reboot. we have not been able to catch this in the act close enough to be able to debug it.

check to see if this file is correct, in particular ONBOOT.

this is a "generic" one:

Code: Select all

bash$ cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0 # Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5703X Gigabit Ethernet DEVICE=eth0 HWADDR=00:D0:84:4F:55:DC TYPE=Ethernet IPV6INIT=yes USERCTL=no IPADDR=192.168.1.10 NETMASK=255.255.255.0 GATEWAY=192.168.1.1 DNS1=192.168.1.10 DNS2=192.168.1.10 SEARCH=home.com DOMAIN=home.com BOOTPROTO=none NM_CONTROLLED=no ONBOOT=yes # generated by hdactl on 2010-06-13 11:35:50 / 1
if necessary, write it by hand, then

Code: Select all

service network restart

bash$ cat /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
nvidia corp mcp51
device=eth0
bootproto=dhcp
defroute=yes
dhcpclass=blank
hwaddr=xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
ipv6init=no
mtu=1500
onboot=yes
options=layer2=1
peerdns=yes
peerroutes=yes
typper=ethernet
uuid=xxxxxxxxxxxxx
mtu=1500

ifconfig
eth0
link encap: ethernet
hwaddr: xxxxxxxx
inet6 addr: xxxxxxx scope:link
up broadcast running multicasrt mtu:1500 metric:1
rx packets:128 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
tx packets:11 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:9 carrier:9
collisions:0 txqueuelen:|1000
rx bytes: 1000 tx bytes:2222
interrupts:20 base addresss:0xa000

Nothing interesting in either, besides it's inability to set its own IP.

this does not look right at all. the formatting is not right: nvidia corp mcp51 should probably not be there (cut and paste?), some of the options are new to me ...

this is a fairly old system, however, it should work fairly unobtrusively.

it does look like NO amahi configuration at all has taken place. it only happens after the first reboot (the code request only happens at the beginning, to bunch it with the other user requests).

i would suggest trying the fedora 12 full dvd.

As I do not have Internet access on the server, I copied it off quickly just looking at the screen, hence the "wrong" formatting. nvidia corp mcp51 equals to # Broadcom Corporation NetXtreme BCM5703X Gigabit Ethernet in your generic config.

The question still remains: What happens when I enter my install code? Does it automaticly set a static IP?

The install code is linked to the IP values you used in your profile. These settings are then sent to the database on your machine. The database fills certain files with the IP values you gave in your profile setup.

So to answer your question: yes the install code sets the IP.

Is there a way to confirm that this has really happened? Since it does not assign it's own IP, something seems to be wrong somewhere.

I'm pretty new too, but you set the Amahi box config and static IP when you build the config here on the website.
