Hello everyone this is my first post.
I'm curious to know about this system but I'm having the same problem as this guy reported. I am using Fedora DVD Full and put the repositor and follow the tutorial site and got the same error when you start the installation.
Somebody help me?

Hello,

Have you done Fedora 12 updates? If not, you should do them prior to installing Amahi. Also, did you use the web-based installer?

You mentioned following the tutorial. Is this the one at http://www.amahi.org after you build your profile? Please follow that one and not the wiki and your install should work fine.

I just performed an install 2 days ago and it went without any issues. The key points I followed was:
a. Install Fedora 12 using Full DVD
b. Added http://f12.amahi.org as the repo
c. Unchecked Office Productivity and left all other settings as default
d. Rebooted (removed DVD during reboot)
e. Created Fedora initial user
f. Performed Fedora updates
g. Rebooted.
h. Installed Amahi (used shortcut on the desktop)

Following these steps, all worked perfectly. I hope this helps. Please let us know how it goes.

I downloaded this:
http://ftp.up.pt/fedora/releases/12/Fed ... 86-DVD.iso

I followed the instructions here: https: / / http://www.amahi.org / support / instructions

After adding the repositor as shown in Annex last about 10 seconds starts to install and return the attached error ..

Great. It appears that you are following all the correct procedures. This could be related to a connectivity issue possibly. Do you have a reliable connection to the internet for this box?

Since it is the amahi file that has the problem, that shows it is having issues retrieving the file. Have you done retry and does it help?

Can't we just get or download a amahi DVD or fedora 12 iso patch, somthing?

I downloaded this:
http://ftp.up.pt/fedora/releases/12/Fed ... 86-DVD.iso

I followed the instructions here: https: / / http://www.amahi.org / support / instructions

After adding the repositor as shown in Annex last about 10 seconds starts to install and return the attached error ..
Having the same problem still, I got past the first few errors just buy switching network connections around between two networks back and forth , it seems to be installing now so find out in a bit if it worked.
Okay I see the amahi install icons on the desktop, looks like it installed.
So for any one else I guess try unplugging your ethernet a few times and retry.

Has anyone found a different solution to this problem? I've tried installing a clean Fedora 12 with Amahi about 6 times now with both 386DVD and the 64bit DVD and it always hangs at exactly the same point:

Error:
The file rubygem-gd2-1.1.1-1.fc12.noarch.rpm cannot be opened. This is due to a missing file, a corrupt package or corrupt media. Please verify your installation source.

It's not my internet connection, as I just downloaded both ISO's with some of the fastest connection speeds i've ever seen on this exact machine. Retrying does nothing, fiddling with the ethernet connection hasn't helped either... and I'm definitely not savvy enough so start learning to run a virtual machine (even if it's easy ;) )

I would love to try Amahi, but I can't even get basic install to complete...

I did this exactly, except I didn't get past step c., after adding the repository (successfully, I get the attached png).

Can't you guys just come up with an .iso of this? It is so easy to do a custom version of Ubuntu that you can have the user just download the whole deal. This is really aggravating, because I so badly want to try Amahi, because the feature set is great.

EDIT

BTW, this is with yet another fresh downloaded and verified FC12 download, on a dual T1 network. Very reliable, and no problems with any other applications/services.

Well, here's an interesting one.

It worked. With the same image, same server (ESXi hypervisor).

Solution? Turn off virus scanning at the firewall. I run an Untangle firewall on my home network, one of which features is a virus scanning utility. I had issues with it preventing YouTube from working on iPod touch devices. Once I disabled that, Youtube (built-in app on iPT) worked.

I left it off, and several days later, decided to give Amahi a try again (I really, really want this to work). Sure enough, it worked.

The virus scanner MUST be doing something to corrupt the downloads from the repo. There have been no other network variables since the last attempt except this.

The odd thing is that it has no effected other downloads; for example, the actual .iso of F12 I used was downloaded with the virus scanning turned on. Likewise, audio sample sets for software sampler/synthesizers (I am a musician as well as a computer geek :D) downloaded and work just fine.

I am really interested to know exactly what the virus scanning utility is doing to cause the issue. But.....that's another day, another FOSS project.

Anyway, it was my fault, and I apologize for being blunt. I was only that way because I so very much wanted Amahi to work, because the feature set is nuts. Can't wait to get started; I am watching the install on the localhost go by now.

EDIT

I had previously mentioned that this didn't work at my office either; this is presumably because while we use a different, commercial firewall there, it is based on FOSS software as the Untangle is, and also for a fact uses antivirus algorithms too of some sort. I don't know if they're identical to what the Untangle does, but I am only to assume they're similar enough that they're also causing the same problems. However I am not able to turn the AV component off there; my boss would throw a fit (even though it's within my power).
