Alrighty folks, I think I may have figured out my problem.

It looks like the install froze, and locked yum in a bad way.

After cleaning out the muck, following the re-install instructions, and running the hda-install -f command. it looks like the install is doing its thing.

Tailing the hda-install log in /root I am seeing all kinds of yum activity that I didn't previously.

So i'm hoping this will get it, I will update after I am done.

thx,

Wachu

Yes. I love ubuntu. Everything just works there always. I still cant update Fedora. Has nothing to do with Amahi though.

we know about this and working on it. this is the workaround:

Code: Select all

yum -y install dhcp dhclient

we believe we just fixed this by a new release in the amahi repos, for new installs.

existing installs please use the workaround above for now.

The port to Ubuntu is a very important one I think since it's been asked a lot.
Also with RH6 being based on F12 we should have a CentOS/RH port quite easily which is great for a long term amahi release on a very stable platform, perhaps even a licensed version of amahi on a licensed platform for people who need real priority support for their business.
The only problem with Centos, is that it comes from Fedora. The unresolved issues will be the same, and some members of the Fedora bug team are plain ignorant. Shameful.

Ubuntu server installs on all the hardware Fedora has a problem with. Even modern hardware still gets the "you found a bug" window showing whem installing.

CentOS 5.4 doesn't like the USB setup on my main computer, yet windows of any flavour, OpenSUSE, and even a hackintosh works without problems! That points the finger at Fedora.

F10 was the last Fedora release that actually worked in the way i've come to expect a Linux distro to work. Since then, the installer is a minefield.

The sooner Amahi makes it to Ubuntu, the better.

I appologise to the OP for butting in.
