Cannot auto-configure network?

Postby jaysif » Wed Mar 03, 2010 10:54 am

Hey guys, thought i'd repost this since im still unable to get the server to install :(

These were the problems that were shown up by the log:

WARNING: cannot autoconfigure the network!
Configuring Samba ...
Samba install done.
Configuring vpn ...
VPN install done.
Installing httpd ...
HTTPD install done.

I then ran /sbin/ip route and it came up with this:

[root@localhost ~]# /sbin/ip route
192.168.2.0/24 dev eth0 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.2.9 metric 1
default via 192.168.2.1 dev eth0 proto static
[root@localhost ~]#

Im unable to get back to the installer since i cannot access localhost:2000 and the service amahi-installer is refusing to stop :(

Now, can you share the output of this command:

Code: Select all

cat /root/ip-route.txt
this makes no sense. with those settings faked out, things work for me:

Code: Select all

$ ruby ./test.rb Output: ["192.168.2", "1", "eth0"] $
(in order for the warning to show up, the first or second argument need to be nil!)

Hiya, when i typed the first command it didn't seem to do anything so i tried it again, then i tried the second command you gave and it just said bad command. Do you know any way to force the installer to stop? maybe that way we could try restarting it trying again with different settings? Im just guessing here i don't really know if that would do any good.

[root@localhost ~]# cat /root/ip-route.txt
[root@localhost ~]# cat /root/ip-route.txt
[root@localhost ~]# $ ruby ./test.rb
-bash: $: command not found

Many thanks

the fact that at the time the installer ran it created an empty /root/ip-route.txt is a good indication that something is amiss. no networking at all seems to be running.

you may want to reinstall, sorry.

Do you mean reinstall amahi? or reinstall fedora completly? I can't actually get the amahi installer service to start again the commands aren't working. A thought just occured, where i installed fedora in text mode i didn't get the option to chooses all those different network settings you get to choose when you do graphic, could that have something to do with it?

righty, i've just reinstalled fedora 12 using the basic settings again etc. I haven't yet installed Amahi since i don't want to run into the same problem.

I've just run the command cat /root/ip-route.txt and it's telling me no such file or directory. So are there some network features i need to install first before amahi?

many thanks
