after the fedora install, after the installing of hdactl and hda-platform and hda-release, and before starting the amahi installer.

"this afternoon" totally didn't work... my ISO corrupted when I moved it... I'll take care of it tomorrow.

well, that one is here http://f12.amahi.org/noarch/rubygems-1. ... noarch.rpm
after you rpm -Uvh that rpm, you will need to do:
service amahi-installer restart
but then something else may be missing, like sinatra or ... who knows what.

Re: f10.Amahi.org / f11.amahi.org down - Fixed (per bk)
i just experienced this issue of not being able to install network based packages also under vmware (server), in two cases: one with amahi, the other with just fedora netinstall.
this is obviously unrelated to amahi, as it happens with amahi netinstall.
solution is install fedora from the dvd, then add amahi via the self install method (which i will experience and update the wiki page, if needed, shortly).

@cpg:
ok...
running the last rubygems rpm needed an updated ruby-rdoc (I yum installed that), then running the rpm rubygems worked. Restarting the Amahi installer fails to stop, but successfully starts, and now the page displays, awaiting patiently for me to put in my install code.
Before I do, I'm going to sort out why I can't use bridged networking... as without that, there's no point in me continuing down this path.
Thanks for all you help, really appreciate it!!

To clarify the fix for all the linux newbies ....
If installing with Fedora 12 it will come up with the "sinatra" error
you then need to open "Applications/System Tools/Terminal" in the top left of your Fedora desktop.
once in the Terminal window type "su" and enter. It will ask you for the server username and password you setup at the very beginning of the install. Once you have logged in to the terminal as the SUPER USER (su) enter this on the next line:
when it is finished installing run this line:
Then the Amahi Installer screen should show up in your web browser.
Continue the installation....

Thanks! Good point.
Here is an installation troubleshooting page where we have put your suggestion (thanks!) as well as some other suggestions for troubleshooting the installer.
