Installation of amahi to a USB flash drive

Postby Chincb » Sun May 01, 2016 11:16 am

I'm looking at installing amahi on a hp ProLiant server but I was wondering would it be feasible to install the os to a USB flash drive and run from there?

Not recommended or officially supported.

Due to the amount of drive activity over time the flash drive will wear out. They are not designed for that sort of activity. There are many articles on the internet that will indicate the same.

There are performance issues associated with using a USB drive. Best to install on a hard disk drive.

Thank you for your reply. Is there a recommendation as to what size of hdd to use? I was thinking of then going with a 500gb 5200rpm wd green. Would this be sufficient?

It should be fine. The key in choosing drive size is often driven by the use of Greyhole. If you intend to use it, keep in mind the LZ is part of the OS drive.
