So, during the Fedora install I created a root password, but I didn't create a user. I just assumed that the root user was more or less the admin and I didn't need an extra user. Was I supposed to create a new user as well?
After the Amahi 8 completed and rebooted, I got back to the Fedora prompt on the server. So, all seemed good.
I went to my Windows machine and to http://hda and it took me to a login page with a username field, a password field and a password confirmation field, along with a create button. I didn't know what I was supposed to enter on this page!!
I also tried going to the IP address of the server from the Windows machine: 192.168.1.10, but that just returned a page not found.
I logged into Amahi.org and under status in my control panel it still says "waiting install".
I'm guessing, from what I've read, that perhaps there is a network configuration issue. I checked the ipconfig on my windows machine and the network gateway is correct. I have not turned off DHCP yet because the Amahi instructions have stated to wait until the network is configured correctly before making that switch. I have NOT gone through the network troubleshooting page (https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Networ ... leshooting) yet because I ran out of time last night. And, the interactive Amahi network troubleshooter link seems to be broken. But, I will try the steps in the troubleshooting page tonight.
However, the first line says, "Your HDA should be capable of browsing all the major sites and http://www.amahi.org before doing anything else." Does that mean that from the Fedora command prompt on my server computer I should be able to get to this webpage? I didn't think I'd be able to browse webpages from a headless Fedora install.
Lastly, as I work through step 1 of the network troubleshooting, those will all be done on the Fedora server machine, correct? And, if they don't work and I get to "If the above does not work, try and fix it by double checking the settings." Does this refer to the network settings on the Amahi server? Or the settings inside of my router? If on the Amahi server, what is the command to do that?
Thanks so much. Looking forward to hopefully having it up and running tonight.
Cheers.
