I'm having trouble installing Amahi 7.1 on my USB following these directions https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Fedora_19_USB_install.
UNetbootin does not offer a Fedora 19_LIVE_X64 so instead I used the 21_LIVE_X64 and attempted to install Amahi but to no avail. Both were downloaded onto my flashdrive and when I restart my computer and open BIOS no option to run Fedora live ever appears - it just goes straight to my computer login. After doing some research, I am wondering if Amahi 7.1 is not compatible with Fedora 21 or 22. Is there any way around this without burning the ISO on a disc?
Installing with USB
Re: Installing with USB
Fedora 21 is not currently supported. You must use Fedora 19. Recommend you try the Express CD. Any reason you are not using a CD image vs USB.

Re: Installing with USB
I went out and bought some DVDs and have attempted to install Amahi with the disc but still not luck. I downloaded Amahi express 7 and burned it onto my CD but it does not boot. The ISO file shows up on my disc when I open the D: file on Windows Explorer so it's there. I'm not really quite sure what to do. I'm not sure how significant this is but my computer is an Acer Veriton M275.
Re: Installing with USB
Recommend you check the download to ensure it's not corrupt. There is a checksum provided for the image.

Re: Installing with USB
I checked my download and the checksum is identical. Just for more info...I burned the software onto the DVD with FreeISOBurner. I'm not sure if that makes a difference or not.
Re: Installing with USB
That should have worked.
Might try a different program to burn it with like CDBurner XP or similar. Also is your PC set to boot from CD/DVD?
If you see the ISO file on the DVD and not files, then it was not properly burned. Have to use the option to burn ISO to DVD, not data DVD.

Re: Installing with USB
The other day I changed my settings for my computer to boot from CD/DVD but it still didn't work. I can see all the files when I open the disk on Windows Explorer so its definitely not that. I'll try again and even burn with a different program. We'll see how it goes.
Re: Installing with USB
So I checked to make sure the CD/DVD was first to boot and apparently I hadn't saved it so that was the issue.
Now that I have it downloaded, I had my computer restart and I'm brought up to the screen of two different Fedora choices. I tried both Fedora w/ linux 3.10.5-201.fc19.x86_64 and it prompts me for my computer log in. I type it in, press enter and it prompts me for my password BUT I can't type anything in. Letters, numbers, special characters...nothing. The num lock is on. Still nothing.
I attempted to turn the DHCP off of the router but after doing some research it looks like you can't turn it off for this particular model (2WIRE 3800HGV-B [AT&T])

Recommend you check out http://docs.amahi.org.
This is a headless server, so you access/configure it via a web browser on a client machine.
Can you set the DHCP range to a single IP address for your router? If so, recommend you set it for the HDA IP address. They let the HDA do DHCP for the rest of the network.

Re: Installing with USB
Alright so I can access my HDA now and from multiple computers in the house. I can set the DHCP to a single IP address but because I am about to move I will have to try it much later. I'll make sure the first thing I do is connect the server to the router and turn off the DHCP or set the DHCP to the HDA IP address (assuming there are no problems network troubleshooting).
Since I am unable to install apps onto my HDA, I'm under the impression this might help. On my control panel, it indicates that my status is "waiting install". I'm also assuming this might help as well.
Do you have any suggestions or forsee any issues when moving my HDA to a new router? Your help has been much appreciated!
