adding 2nd harddrive

i did the ls-1 /dev//by-=id/ > after.txt
cat after,txt

shows my new hard drives but

ata hitachi part1
part 2
part 3

ata wdc part 1
part 2
part 3

this cant be right
????????

That does seem like odd results.

How many disks do you have installed besides the OS?

Do you have all the dependencies required by the adding a second drive to your HDA installed?

I have not see this sort of behavior in the past. Might be worth trying to find the UUID for the drive and doing the manual disk mount option in the wiki.

this is what I have installed 1TB hard drive
disk stats shows
/dev/sda1 /boot 190mb
/dev/sda3 /913gb

under partition
none /var/spool/greyhole/mem 4
free 4mb

does this look normal

Ok, so what are you asking?

Typically the OS hard drive will be assigned as /dev/sda and any others after will be /dev/sdb, /dev/sdc, etc.

I am not sure I understand what you are asking here.
