SOLVED: Installing Amahi 7 Express 64 - Hard Drive not found

Postby baldwin » Sat Jan 03, 2015 1:38 am

Hello,

I successfully downloaded, burned, verified checksum, and started loading Amahi 7. I unfortunately missed the part where I should have installed it using one hard drive. So, I had two identical drives in the system during the initial install. Both drives were found and visible. I got to the installation point where I deleted all the partitions (following Hard Drive Partition Scheme instructions) but was hit by an unknown installation error. Had to reboot and start over, but now Amahi will not recognize/see either of the hard drives now.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, I re-format one of the disks to ext4 and set it active. Tried to install again but no dice. Not sure what is going on. I can see the drive in the BIOS.
I also successfully installed Windows 7 on the other drive just to be sure another OS could use/see it.

Any thoughts on why Amahi 7 Express install can't see the drives now? Odd that it could the first go at it....

Thank you,

M

Try deleting all partitions on the drive, but do not reformat it. Then boot the Express CD. Also ensure it's the only drive connected.

Thank you for the reply. Deleted the partition. Still does not see drive. I believe the installer thinks the drive is part of a raid configuration. Is that possible?

Edit: I hooked up both drives, it can see one and identifies it as part of a raid configuration. Any way to fix this?

Thanks again for your help.

It is possible. Do you have RAID enabled? If so, you may need to try the Amahi 7 Full DVD method.

No, the system does not support RAID. Not sure how this happened. Any way to remove the configuration? I would like to use the express install.

Thank you,

Not sure what you mean by remove the configuration. If the Express CD does not work, you only other alternative is the Full DVD.

There may be drivers your system needs that the Express CD does not have.

I used the Western Digital drive tool to write zero's to the beginning and end of the drive. Once completed, Amahi recognized a single disk as non-RAID. Fedora was reading the old drive configuration.

Thank you, fully installed, up and running.
